THE STOLEN HEART

Oil on linen, 17' x 14' ( 42 cm x 35 cm)

The eternal story of love.... one is giving , one is taking. The woman's heart has been stolen. It serves as an ornament on the man's necklace. As always the collected hearts of women are the harvest of manhood used to establish male's ego, a sense of success and all atavistic triumph. This heart, however, is in flames, the burning flames of love. It is eaten to ashes. The woman is trying to cut the chains that tie her heart to his neck, she is doing it with the same bloody knife that has been used to slice out her heart. She has cut half of one of the ring. Why? Is it ambivalence that doesn't let her finish...?
